Portfolio ++ 2022-Q4 Release Overview

TRANSCRIPT

Thank you for your interest in Portfolio++. This release is a major upgrade, with several changes to the User Interface which we will demonstrate using an actual Roadmap shared by the iTrellis development team.

The first change is an administration tool on the Organization Settings page.

Only users in the project collection administrators’ group have access to it.

From this page, administrators can easily select multiple roadmaps for deletion.

Now let’s open the development team’s Roadmap.

We are going to use a saved View, called Demo, that was built to show the work required for this release.

The second major update was to the Roadmap settings page, making it easier to select work items and build your roadmaps.

There are two ways to search for items to add to your roadmap. By project as before, and also now, by team.

You cannot search using both methods on a single roadmap. Searching by team is a pro feature.

Switching will clear your roadmap of previously selected work items.

To search by project, select a project and then select the work item type you want to include from this drop down.

Selecting the work item type is another new Feature in this release.

To search by team, select Build by Team.

Whichever method is chosen, you can only add work items that you have access to in ADO.

This is an example of a roadmap built by team.

After selecting a project, we have to select a team to get a list of work items under that teams area path.

The roadmap will be structured by team.

Let’s return to the previous roadmap. Roadmaps now allow any work item type, at any level, to be selected for display on your Roadmap.

By default, the search will include closed work items, but you can use this toggle to hide them.

This makes finding and selecting work items easier.

Once you check the box next to the work item, it will be included in your roadmap.

As work items are selected, they appear in the Added to Roadmap panel.

Portfolio++ Pro subscribers can arrange the Projects, and work items within those projects, into any order.

The order of Work items in the Added to Roadmap panel, is the order that work items will appear in your Roadmap.

On the Roadmap page, all selected work items can now be viewed at the quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily level.

If you are a pro subscriber, the cross-project query option will be selected by default.

This includes work items linked across projects in parent child relationships, so they are counted in metric roll-ups for more accurate views of work completion.

A major new feature is the ability to drill down on a selected work item to show its children.

Work items selected in settings will always show a black triangle. Work Items that have children, show a right arrow.

Clicking on the right arrow expands the work item to reveal its’ child work items.

The arrow becomes downward facing when the child items have been revealed.

You can drill-down through the work items until the lowest level work items are revealed.

Click the arrow again to collapse the roadmap work items.

This ends the demonstration. Future videos will demonstrate the core functionality of Portfolio++ with this new version.
